Kayak from the lakes edge and enjoy....

Hotwater Beach:

A short boat ride will take you to Hotwater beach where you can bath or paddle in the warm geothermal water.

Hiking

Another short boat ride will take you to a drop off spot where you can enjoy a 4 hr return hike to the beautiful Lake Tarawera Falls - picnic lunch provided on request.

Mountain Biking

Mountain bikes available from the Lodge.

Trout Fishing

The jetty also provides the starting point for another experience at Lodge at 199 - fishing for the lake’s famed rainbow trout with Clearwater Charters. They will take you to the best fishing spots at Lake Tarawera and ensure you have an amazing time. A local guide is also happy to come to the Lodge to give you fishing lessons from the Lodge's jetty before taking you out for a great day.

Buried Village - Lake Tarawera

Just 5 minutes drive from Lodge at 199 is the Burried Village - Lake Tarawera's historical tourist attraction featuring the excavation of New Zealand's 1886 eruption, plus a history and gallery museum.
